Class Information
Kids / Teenage Beginner Ballroom/Latin Class
Class conducted by Shay, Rhett, Rhys & April, this class is all about having fun. Aimed for children too old for the toddlers class yet too young for the adults class. You can join the class at any time, absolute beginners welcome!
Medal Class Experienced
This advanced class consists of tuition to medal standard however the choice to ever dance a medal exam is optional. You will acquire a larger ‘dance’ vocabulary and understanding of the various applicable rhythms and tempo’s of dance music. Conducted by Shay, Rhett & Rhys Salmon, this class is designed to help you achieve your full potential. Course times range dependent on the level of medal being taught.
Adult Semi-Advanced Ballroom Class
Know all the basics? Need something a little more challenging? This class will keep you on your toes! If your looking for the finer points to Ballroom Dancing, Ray and Shelley Salmon teach exactly that. In this Semi-Advanced Class you will expand your dancing repertoire. This class is designed as a flow on from the Adults Beginner Class.
Training Practice Class
This is not a ‘teaching class’. Dance music is provided for couples to ‘fine tune’ their dancing skills and to work on performance, stamina, floor-craft and musicality. Couples are asked to treat training as they would a competition.
Adult Beginner Ballroom Class
If you’re an absolute beginner or just want to brush up on a few steps, this is the class for you! Conducted by Ray and Shelley Salmon, this class is all about learning the basics. Pupils will also learn to recognise and respond to the various musical rhythms and tempo’s enjoyed in Ballroom Dancing. This class can be joined at any time.
Street Latin Class
This class is for those who want to learn more about the Latin American dances and includes dances such as Cha Cha, Samba, Salsa, Meringue, Jive and many more! A combination of basics and harder choreography are taught by Rhys Salmon so if you are a beginner or a little more advanced, this class provides something for people of all levels of ability.
New Vogue Social Class
Designed for those who are interested in learning all the social New Vogue and Old Time dances that are often seen at social outings. Ray Salmon will teach many of both the more modern and older sequence dances such as the Mayfair Quickstep, Balmoral Blues, Chicago Swing and Lucille Waltz just to name a few. Many of these dances are featured at our monthly Cabaret’s and are always valuable to add to your repertoire.
Ballet, Tap and Jazz Classes
These classes are offered to kids from 3 years of age. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer in any of these styles, you are most welcome to join in these brand new classes at Danceland. Taught by April McMahon, you will learn the basic principles of each style so that you can develop your technique, allowing you to attempt more complex moves and routines.

Show Group
Danceland Ballroom is proud to be the home of the highly anticipated Senior Show Group.
This class is for those over 14 years of age who have previous experience in ballet, tap, jazz, ballroom, latin or general stage performance. Our aim is to choreograph dances for shows, eisteddfods and functions in a range of styles. From Hip Hop to Las Vegas Showgirl and Broadway Jazz to the Can Can. We try to teach technique and diversity to all performers whilst still being in a friendly and fun environment.
Admission to the Danceland Show Group is either by audition and/or invitation and, once accepted, classes are on Friday afternoons from 5:30pm (NSW time) with the occasional Saturday afternoon session as required. Various fundraisers are also held once a month for our costume fund. This is a big help to all performers as funding is divided between each person when new costumes are required to keep costs down for everyone.
